Mr. Govind Sankaranarayanan is the Chief Operating Officer - Retail Business & Housing Finance, Tata Capital. The Retail business comprises of consumer loans, travel services, credit cards and forex services.

Mr. Govind joined Tata Capital in September 2007. In his earlier role as CFO and COO - Corporate Affairs, he has been instrumental in establishing key functions of Financial Management, Treasury, Risk and overall Corporate Strategy.

Mr. Govind has had an extensive affiliation with the Tata Group. He joined the Tata Administrative Services (TAS) in 1992 and after a few years, was appointed General Manager of Tata Industries, the Group holding company for new businesses. He was closely associated with the creation of Tata joint ventures with Bell Canada, Jardine Matheson and the Government of Singapore in sectors as diverse as realty, composites, automotive components and telecommunication.

Mr. Govind is a member of the Banking & Finance Committee of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Economic Affairs and Accounting Standards and Private Equity Committees of the CII. He has been invited as a guest speaker at various institutions such as RBI, Deloitte Consulting, IIM – Ahmedabad, IIM – Bangalore and IIM – Kozhikode.

His willingness to constantly learn is echoed through his academic accomplishments. He is a Chemical Engineer from Birla Institute of Technology, and holds an MBA degree in Finance from IIM-Bangalore and a Masters in Finance from the London Business School. In 1999, Mr. Govind was one of 12 managers awarded the Chevening – Leadership award of the British Foreign and Common Wealth Office.
